When giving tennis lessons I am always believe in encouraging students to improvise their serve to get the point started to accelerate the learning process. I think it can become distracting for beginners to mimic the perfect service motion.
Just get the ball in play and work on ground strokes. And don’t worry about how you look. Again just use a “patty cake” type of serve to get the point started.
