Is tennis hard for beginners?

I haven’t really mastered my techniques for tennis. I never had any real lessons until I went to tennis camp. (I messed up a lot) I want to join my high school’s tennis team, but i’m afraid that I’ll stink at it and start to dislike it and embarrass myself. Any tips on how to improve?

tennis is the most easiest sport to start with no experience

tryout you’ll probably make it because they usually keep 25 people per team and the top 10 travel and your always competing for rank.

when you went to the camp there were probably more dedicated players there so thats why your skill was lower comparatively

tennis is a tough sport to master, but with enough practice, you should be able to do it. its frustrating in the beginning, but trust me, tennis is fun. lessons are good because the instructors will be able to work on all the flaws in your game. if not, you can play with a friend around your skill level. as you both play each other, you’ll both get better. it’ll be very hard to make the team unless you get some experience under your belt

You will get better with practice. Just have fun and laugh if you make a mistake. The more you practice, the better you will get.

It depends on the shots, but basically is pretty important to hit the ball in front of your body, not behind your body line.
Also on service is very important how do you throw the ball. You can practice in front of a wall, in order to be able to throw it straight

    Hey,

tennis is a sport that can be played and loved by anybody, and it is like every other sport where practice makes perfect. I say join the team, and what have you got to lose, you never know this may be the start to something new, and you may suprise yourself.

If you are really keen, i suggest getting tennis lessons so you can be shown the proper technique and then after that its just practice, practice, practice. The best part of tennis is that you can play it both socially and competitively.

The two main things to master is your serve, and your grounds (remember topspin). The key to topspin is to getting forward spin on your shots, so you want to be brushing up from the back of the ball. bring your racket up into ready position, then swing from down to up, this will create the spin, which will bring the ball down into the court and make the ball bounce up to your opponent. The serve throw the ball toss at 1 o’clock (right hand), 11 o’clock (left hand). you want to strike the ball just when it starts the fall, and you want your ball toss to be slightly into the court. You want to stretch when you hit the ball when server, so the furthest you can stretch is were you want to hit the ball.

I know this is a lot to take in, and there is no way that you will dislike tennis. remember your confidence. Good Luck in joining the team, and i hope that it pays off for you.

Well it depends the startings of your career in tennis. Practice hard and remember to have high confidence. Have your own strategy if you want to be an aggresive baseliner , counterpuncher , serve and volley or an All around player. Then get a coach who has the ability to coach you physically and mentally. Follow his tips , practice it and you will improve!
